The Ragley Boat Stop was purchased by us ten years ago - from the receiver! The previous owners had come upon hard times. When we purchased it there were outbuildings in a dangerous condition, no sewage system and three acres of overgrown garden sloping down to the canal bank, which had a precarious wooden jetty attached to it.
We set about tidying the place up, rectified the drainage and put the canal towpath in place along with 100 metres of piling to hold the bank back. It is now very popular with leisure boaters and we even have our own resident boat technician "Peter the Boat Doctor" so if you're on the canal and you break down, this is the best place to do it! As with all our pubs we are open all day on Sunday and there is no better place in South Derbyshire for a good meal, where your children can play in the open air all afternoon.
